Washer fluid sensor – Peugeot RCZ

Even though I recently and very unexpectedly sold my beloved Peugeot RCZ, I still had some video footage of it from February 2019, changing the washer fluid sensor.

The weird thing about this is that the washer fluid still keeps coming when you actuate the lever. Even when the fluid level is almost full, the onboard computer is showing the warning message “Screen wash fluid level too low”. I checked for any leaks coming from the reservoir or the hoses, but couldn’t find any. This meant to me that the source of the problem was likely to be electronical.

Long story short, watch the video to learn how to change the sensor. 🙂

Update on KITT & My advice on project cars

Originally I had in mind to dive into all the restoration videos around Christmas. Even though I have made significant progress in KITT since, I was too busy to edit a significant amount of videos. Meanwhile, I opened an Instagram account and started showing the current progress on KITT, which created a bit of a gap between the original presentation of the Firebird and the current status of the car.

Long story short, here is the March 2019 update of KITT. Enjoy the video!

Pontiac Firebird KITT – Fuel system overhaul

What some could consider as being part of the basic maintenance, I decided to make it a separate video. Whereas changing the fuel filter is fairly easy on these thirdgens, getting to the fuel pump is a bit more tricky. Not super hard but it requires you to lift the car and drop the tank, as there is no fuel trap door to access to it from the inside of the car…at least not from the factory. Enjoy the video!

Pontiac Firebird KITT – Basic Maintenance

As KITT is already back from the body and paint shop and the enterior is almost finished as well, it’s time to remind myself that I haven’t showed much about the entire restoration process so far and that I should start at the beginning. Hence, here is a video about the basic maintenance I did on my 1990 Pontiac Firebird with the 305 V8 engine, the L03 TBI version. This would apply for most thirdgen Pontiac Firebird or Chevrolet Camaro, as they were basically the same cars with the exception of the front and the rear design. Enjoy the video!

Build Plan – Pontiac Firebird KITT – Knight Rider project

KITT created – step by step

KITT is in the making, the phoenix will rise from the ashes and glow of passion. But first things first. In order to make such a project happen, you need to make several packages and line them up on a timeline, basically create a plan. That’s right, and here it is: the build plan for my KITT, from start to finish. Keep you scanners peeled and watch carefully! 🙂

Why KITT? How I got my Firebird – Knight Rider project

The spark that started a passion for cars

Before going into the deep ends of the engine bay of my Pontiac Firebird KITT project, let me take a few minutes and explain to you why I’m doing this project in the first place and what it actually means to me. Sit back and enjoy the video! 🙂

1’000 subscribers! Thank YOU!!

You made it possible!

So my MotorScotti YouTube channel just reached 1’000 subscribers! What I started with a fairly modest short clip of my Yamaha XVS Drag Star 1100 motorcycles has gone through being a model car review channel to becoming a DIY how to repair and modification channel about cars in general and mores specifically the Peugeot RCZ. As mention in my channel update video, it’s time to move on to the next chapter with the Pontiac Firebird KITT project.

Over the years I have received a loads of constructive and positive feedback from all of the viewers and I am really greatful for your support! I enjoy documenting my little automotive and mechanical projects and share it with the world to help others who are looking for the information I provide and simply show that with a little bit of dedication you can do it, too! At you own risk, of course!! :-p

Anyway, this is just the beginning of a lot more to come. Thank you for your continuous support and stay tuned!! 🙂

DAB+ antenna – installation & setup

Reach for the satellites

Time goes on and with that technology evolves or at least changes. Sometimes for better, sometimes for worse. 😉 The fact is that in Europe, the classic AM/FM radio has reached the beginning of its end. Depending on in which country you live, AM/FM radio transmission either already has stopped or will seize to exist within the first half of the 2020’s. Some countries actually intend to keep it up. However, in order to be prepared for the day after, I have decided to install a Digital Audio Broadcasting antenna to hook up to the android autoradio of my RCZ. Here’s how to install it and set it up! 🙂

New high pressure fuel pump – PSA & MINI Prince engine

All out of steam

Here we go again, the ‘engine fault: repair needed‘ warning message came back. What is this time? Well, this time the diagnostics tool brought up the error code “P0087 – Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too Low”. Apparently it has to do with the high pressure fuel pump. Need I say more? 🙂
